Thank you for visiting my website. I hope it gives you an idea of what I stand for, and what changes I'm campaigning for in Newcastle. I'd like to hear what issues you feel are important to you, so please get in touch if you have anything you'd like to share.
Hello,
I was born and brought up in the North East and have lived
in Newcastle all my working life. I was first elected to the City
Council in 2000, aged 26. I represent Westgate Ward, which includes the
City Centre and parts of the Inner West and Rye Hill. (You can find out
more about Westgate Ward and my various roles as a Councillor in the 'Nick's Roles' section).
Labour Government investment has
transformed Newcastle and our public services over the last 15 years. We
now have some of the best hospitals, schools, libraries and cultural
facilities in the UK. However, there's still a lack of affordable
housing for local people. Too many children leave school with too few
qualifications. There aren't enough decent jobs in the area, and there
are still too many inequalities which prevent people from achieving
their potential.
I'm working to address all these issues, as well
as improve the quality of life for people in my ward and the city. If
you have any ideas, suggestions or problems that you want to share,
please get in touch - I look forward to hearing from you. And if you
